our new home in brief

skies:
wide open. hourly changes. from hot and sunny to dusky, cloudy. tremendous clouds, by the way. down in the plains: too hot. up here: always winds, blowin down from the mountain. cooler in summer than the rest of the isle, warmer in winter.

nature:
sweet rolling hills, fields. mountains, too. rocky bays. a land to walk the lenght and width of it. void of near anyone besides the shepherds. scores of lizards, butterflies. birds and black beetles. and other edible things, too.

dwellings:
no postcards. calm, modest and well proportioned instead. imagine europe and middle east blending perfectly into one. wagonloads of deserted buildings and ruins to rest your soul.

humans/culture:
modestissimo. just there. with lots of space in between. nothin matters except for good manners and cheerfulness, no matter what the circumstances. or maybe completely different - i've only just arrived.

food:
 simple.
surprisingly european: i looked at the seasonal vegetables yesterday and decided to make bortschtsch.

music:
 greek/egyptian/turkish

language:
goes down like oil. like in arabic, there is no "no". reading faces and moves is a must.

goosepimple experiences:
too many to mention. god is on my side. and vice-versa.

learnings:
give an dyed-in-the-wool alternative no-driver-license freak from berlin a 1985 french car and he will turn reaaaaal german: including hand-washing it in on sunday.
